Catalyst - Michael C. Grumley

Catalyst is the third novel in the Breakthrough series. First read Breakthrough and Leap. This book is available through kindleunlimited.
Alison, John, Caesare, and the standard cast of characters, are about to find more than they could imagine, and after the last two adventures that's hard to believe. John is busy trying to chase down the last bit of DNA that the Chinese took from Guyana. Alison is trying to discover where her dolphins healing powers originate. Caesare, along with a host of bad guys, is trying to find the Capuchin monkey named Dexter. All these threads come together with more adventures and more science. I can't wait to see what happens next. Unfortunately, it's not published yet! Very highly recommended.

Leap - Michael C. Grumley

Leap is the second novel in the Breakthrough series. Read Breakthrough first. This book is available through kindleunlimited.
After the events in Breakthrough, John continues to investigate for the Navy, but it's hard to get excited about electronic glitches after portals to another world. Then John is sent to investigate a Russian submarine that's been captured by Brazil.

Alison has relocated her research to Puerto Rico. Alison and her team are expanding their IMIS technology to include primates. They're facilitating communications between researcher DeeAnn Draper and her young gorilla. Then the opportunity arises for DeeAnn and her gorilla to help on a search for one of DeeAnn's old friends.

John's investigation in Brazil eventually converges with DeeAnn's search. Just in time from DeeAnn's perspective. What they find in the South American jungle makes the ring they found in the Caribbean seem trivial. Another great science adventure. Very highly recommended.

Breakthrough - Michael C. Grumley

Breakthrough is the first novel in the Breakthrough series. This book is available through kindleunlimited.
Commander John Clay is an Electronics and Signaling investigator for the Department of Naval Investigations. When a nuclear sub in the Caribbean seems to have jumped 15 miles off course, John is called in to figure out how it happened.

Alison Shaw is a marine biologist. Alison and her team are getting ready to initiate the first two-way communications between humans and dolphins.

Kathryn Lokke is the directory of the United States Geological Survey. Kathryn is currently concerned with the geological stability of Antarctica. A serious earthquake near the Ronne ice shelf may indicate it's going to collapse.

As this tale progresses the efforts of John, Alison, and Kathryn converge. They've discovered something new, exciting, and dangerous. This is a great story. It has all the science, suspense, and danger you could ask for. Very highly recommended.

The D'Karon Apprentice - Joseph Lallo

The D'Karon Apprentice is the fourth novel in the Book Of Deacon series. The first three books in the series, The Book of Deacon, The Great Convergence, and The Battle of Verril, must be read before this one. You could even read the prequel, The Rise of the Red Shadow, and the follow-on novelette Jade, before reading this story. They're all worth the time spent.
The Perpetual War is over and the D'Karon have been defeated. Six months of an unsteady peace have passed. Word has recently spread from the Tressor lands to the south that magic is being used. Before these rumors disturb the fragile peace, Deacon, Myranda, and Myn are dispatched south to investigate. Perhaps a D'Karon was missed. Or perhaps something just as bad or worse has awakened. Another great adventure with magic, dragons, and all manner of monsters. Very highly recommended indeed.

Creatures of Appetite - Todd Travis

Creatures of Appetite is about serial killers. Lots of them. This book is available through kindleunlimited.
The Heartland Child Murders are having a chilling effect on the state of Nebraska. They've dubbed the killer The Iceman. He abducts little girls, and all that's ever found are random body parts. The FBI convinces forcibly retired profiler Jacob Thorne, and rookie profiler Emma Kane, to work the case. If they catch the Iceman, then Thorne will be allowed back on the Mercy Killer case. The Mercy Killer has confounded local and federal law enforcement for five years, with over 200 victims in over 20 states. The search for the Iceman is cold and frustrating. It makes for a great story though. There are twists on the twists in this plot. You will not believe the ending. You also may not sleep soundly afterwards. Very highly recommended.

Red Right Return - John H. Cunningham

Red Right Return is the first novel in the Buck Reilly Adventure Series. This book is free for the kindle.
Buck Reilly is essentially hiding. After Charles Buck Reilly's company went bust, and some people even thought Charles might have killed his parent, Buck Reilly started a low-key Last Resort Charter & Salvage company in Key West. The trouble is it's not low-key any longer. Some people are after Buck with voodoo, the FBI wants him for unspecified reasons, and even Cuban security officers have Buck on their mind. Buck's only chance is to rescue the girl and find the treasure. Not necessarily in that order. It's a little slow at times, but highly recommended.

Saving Grace - Pamela Fagan Hutchins

Saving Grace is the first novel in the Katie & Annalise series. This book is free for the kindle.
Katie Connell is a lawyer. Her Dad had been the Dallas chief of police. Her brother was a cop. Katie had bucked the trend. When her parents were killed in an auto accident, while on vacation in the Caribbean, Katie was devastated. Her life started to crumble. In an effort to get back on track, Katie decided to get some closure on their deaths by traveling to St. Marcos. It was there that Katie was captured by the island and the spirit of Annalise. Katie's life was about to change forever.

This is a great story. There's some romance, and the accompanying angst, but the action and adventure, and the ghost are what make it interesting. Oh and the dogs. Very highly recommended.

Dying by the Hour - Kory M. Shrum

Dying by the Hour is the second novel in the Jesse Sullivan series. This book isn't free, but the series is good enough I'm willing to pay.
It's been about a year since Jesse escaped the clutches of the Unified Church. Jesse, Ally, and the crew are still up against the minions of Caldwell. People are disappearing. Caldwell isn't just kidnapping people with NRD, he's kidnapping the people who death replacement agents have replaced. It turns out there is a special category of NRDs. Caldwell is one. So is Jesse. The action is fast and bloody. Very highly recommended.
