Jelena has decided to detour on her first freight run to free up some lab animals being abused by the corporation where they're caged. This turns into a typical Marchenko debacle. Jelena is growing up real fast. Lots of adventure, some serious danger, and a dash of fun in the bargain. Very highly recommended.

The Truth About Animals - Lucy Cooke

The Truth About Animals is subtitled Stoned Sloths, Lovelorn Hippos, and Other Tales from the Wild Side of Wildlife.

This book covers a selection of the odd-ball animals that have confused and confounded zoologists and other scientists since humans first recorded their thoughts on the creatures we share the earth with. The thirteen species selected are interesting and varied. The author covers everything from their diet to their sex lives in a funny and informative way. For example, who knew frogs made the best pregnancy test available until the little strips you pee on came along. Very highly recommended.

Last Command - Lindsay Buroker

Last Command is the prequel to the Fallen Empire series. You can only get it in the omnibus collection of the first three book, but it's free and worth reading.

Colonel Hieronymus "Leonidas" Adler is on the secret asteroid base guarding the emperor and his command staff from a surprise attack by the Alliance. Someone leaked the location of the secret base and the Alliance is throwing everything they can at it. When things get desperate the emperor chooses Leonidas to guard his only living son and heir Thorian. Can they escape the Alliance? Can Leonidas get Thorian to the Starseekers where he can be safe and trained to use his powers? The rest of the series proves he can, but what he has to go through to do so is worth reading about. Very highly recommended.

Vegas Moon - John Locke

Vegas Moon is book seven in the Donovan Creed series.

Donovan is peeved. Somone is trying to kill him with the chip in his head. Since Donovan is the CIA's top assassin, that someone is going to die. Finding them turns out to be much easier than he thought, but there are complications and beautiful women. There always are with Donovan. Very highly recommended.

End Game - Lindsay Buroker

End Game is the eighth and final book in the Fallen Empire series. We can only hope for more.

Alisa and her band of crew and passengers have found her daughter Jelena. The trouble is Alisa promised Jelena to find her daughter's friend Thorian. That means they're back on the trail of the evil Starseekers and the Staff of Lore. To make it more interesting, Thorian is also the only living son of the empire's dead emperor. That means lots of other people are also searching for him, not to mention the Staff of Lore. Who knew space could be so crowded. Very highly recommended.

Perilous Hunt - Lindsay Buroker

Perilous Hunt is book seven in the Fallen Empire series.

Alisa is starting to think she's never going to find her daughter Jelena. She and her gang are on the trail of the Starseers who have her, but so is the Alliance, Imperial forces, and some treasuer hunters looking for the Staff of Lore. The asteroid belt that used to be the planet Kir seems like the best place to look. The question is, who will find Alisa's daughter first. Very highly recommended.

Arkadian Skies - Lindsay Buroker

Arkadian Skies is book six in the Fallen Empire series.

Alisa is still looking for her daughter, and the man who may know where she is remains in a coma. The best hospital on the planet Arkadia is her destination. The trouble is the rogue Starseekers have chosen this same time to destroy part of Arkadia with an earthquake caused by the Staff of Lore. Alisa has to get her daughter, get that damn staff back, and maybe get her boyfriend Leonidis repaired at the same time. What are the odds? Very highly recommended.
