The Ninth Step is the eighth novel in the John Milton series. This book was just published last month. I have that sinking feeling you get when you've finished the last published work in a series, and you know you're going to have a long wait before you can read another. Sigh.

John is back in England and working as a cook in a cabman's shelter. No matter what he does, trouble seems to find John. When a cabbie that John met at AA needs some help, John tried to give it. Before long John is juggling a rogue ex-military hit squad and a vicious family of criminals. Never a boring moment. Very highly recommended.
