The Sword of God - Mark Dawson

The Sword of God is the fifth novel in the John Milton Series.

John Milton has been hiking, hitching, and camping for days. He's deep into the upper peninsula, the weather is terrible, and John wants a hot meal and a warm place to sleep. The sheriff of Truth Michigan has other plans. He picks John up, and drops him off on the other side of town, with a warning to stay out of Truth. John walks back. He probably should have kept going. John's caught up in more trouble than he could imagine, and that's a lot. At one point John's got the local law, the state police, the FBI, and the National Guard hunting him. Not to mention the Sword of God. Very highly recommended.
